Egodokumentai suprantami kaip autobiografinė raštija&nbsp;pirmuoju asmeniu, kurios ryškiausi žanrai yra dienoraštis, atsiminimai,&nbsp;laiškai, atminimų albumai, o senojoje Lietuvoje – dar ir silva rerum tipo&nbsp;knygos. Konferencijoje veikė dvi sekcijos. Pirmoji buvo skirta bendrai teorinių,&nbsp;istorinių, savimonės raiškos raidos privačiosios raštijos problemų&nbsp;analizei ir galimiems sprendimams. Antroje sekcijoje buvo aptariamos&nbsp;daugiafunkcių egodokumentų, įvairiais aspektais susijusių su istoriniais ir&nbsp;etnografiniais Europos ir Lietuvos regionais, problemos, taip pat autobiografinė&nbsp;raštija, susijusi su Panevėžio regionu ir iš jo kilusiais žmonėmis&nbsp;(„Panevėžio regionu“ vadinama teritorija, esanti Lietuvos Šiaurės rytuose).&nbsp;Pagal pranešimus parengtuose ir šiame Bibliotheca Lituana tome publikuojamuose&nbsp;moksliniuose ir apžvalginiuose straipsniuose nagrinėjami&nbsp;egodokumentikos kilmės, raidos, sąsajų su senųjų bibliotekų ir kitų atminties&nbsp;institucijų fondais bei privačiais rinkiniais klausimai; atskleidžiama&nbsp;tarpdisciplinė prieiga prie egodokumentikos ir privačios raštijos tyrimų&nbsp;(istorijos, archyvistikos, bibliotekininkystės, muzeologijos, komunikacijos&nbsp;ir kt. mokslų atvejai); aptariami lituanistiniai egodokumentų telkiniai&nbsp;Lietuvos ir užsienio atminties institucijose, jų paieškos ir tyrimų ypatumai,&nbsp;taip pat egodokumentų viešinimo, publikavimo, leidybos problemos.&nbsp;Ypatingas dėmesys skiriamas Panevėžio regiono egodokumentikai, jos telkiniams,&nbsp;tyrimo bei identifikavimo problemoms, turinio bei tyrimų sąsajoms&nbsp;su tapatumu, vietos, šeimos bei giminės, emocijų istorijai.&nbsp;Straipsnių rinkinyje skelbiami 8 moksliniai straipsniai, 6 apžvalgos,&nbsp;1 šaltinio publikacija ir 2 recenzijos. Publikacijose ir rinkinyje siekiama&nbsp;pristatyti naujausius egodokumentinio paveldo tyrimus, autobiografinės&nbsp;raštijos, saugomos atminties institucijose, telkinius ir egodokumentus.&nbsp;</p> <p>Straipsniai ir šaltinių publikacijos atrinktos ir susistemintos teminiu požiūriu,&nbsp;rinkinys yra tęstinis, svarbus lituanistikos tyrimų sklaidai ir populiarinimui,&nbsp;egodokumentikos studijoms. Atlikti tyrimai turėtų paskatinti&nbsp;spausdintinio ir rankraštinio paveldo lituanistines, tarpdalykines studijas,&nbsp;jų rezultatų sklaidą, tarpinstitucinį bendradarbiavimą atliekant kitus&nbsp;panašius darbus. Rengiant ne tik mokslo bendruomenei, bet ir platesnei&nbsp;visuomenei skirtą knygą bendradarbiavo mokslo ir studijų bei viešojo sektoriaus&nbsp;(bibliotekų, muziejų) atstovai.</p> Arvydas Pacevičius ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2018-11-04 2018-11-04 5 7 8 Study of Egodocuments: Old Spaces – New Horizons http://www.journals.vu.lt/Bibliotheca-Lituana/article/view/12124 <p>[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; summary in English]</p> <div> <p>Based on the analysis of project results, the article discusses the achievements in the study of egodocuments over the past five years and the prospective study fields emerging in the European research area and Lithuania. In Lithuania, attention to egodocuments increased in around 2010 after a new term – egodocument – was introduced to scientific discourse; its conceptual adaptation led to more system­atic studies of writings in the first person. In addition to the studies published in the framework of the project Egodocumental Heritage of Lithuania (LEGODOK), the project Creation of the Private Written Lithuanian Language Database (AKdb) implemented by the Institute of the Lithuanian Language and its partners deserves a special mention; in the frames of the project, the data of the written Lithuani­an language (letters, diaries, memoirs, inscriptions on photographs) are collected and digitalised electronically. In Lithuania, the general research tendency can be considered the studies on self-consciousness and identity expression of the elite (Radziwiłł, Römer) as well as the attempts to add an increasing number of sources to the research field, e.g. memory books (album amicorum) telling about oneself, i.e. the creating person. Traditionally, the so called ‘from below’ studies focus­ing on non-elite social groups are strong in Lithuania. They include the research of written culture and mentality change associated with national revival related problems. They consider egodocuments (including letters) and their dissemina­tion in the period of early modernity a public rather than private means of com­munication. Inter-disciplinary ‘from below’ studies are viable in Northern Europe (Anna Kuismin). In Western Europe the Villa Vignoni forum, bringing together Italian, French and German researchers (Giovanni Ciappelli, François-Josephas Ruggiu, Claudia Ulbrich), inspired solid publications dedicated to personal, fa­milial and communal identities in a cross-cultural perspective. The published ego­documentary history sources and the fundamental research carried out in Poland often extend to the issues of old Lithuania (Adam Kucharski, Stanisław Roszak). Therefore, with certain research tendencies coming to the fore, the article makes a conclusion that by expanding international cooperation with our neighbours, the research of the egodocumentary heritage of Lithuania as expression of linguistic identity as well as cross-cultural research of multilingualism and dissemination of multidimensional identity in the modernising society should be continued in Lithuania.</p> </div> Arvydas Pacevičius ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2018-11-04 2018-11-04 5 11 20 10.15388/BibLita.2017.12124 Egodocuments Publishing in Lithuania 1991–2015: Published Letters and Diaries of Vytautas Kubilius http://www.journals.vu.lt/Bibliotheca-Lituana/article/view/12125 <p>[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; summary in English]</p> <div> <p>Publication provides an analysis of egodocuments (sensu stricto) publishing in Lithuania from XX century 10 decade to XXI century. Changes in society brought by XX century transformed publishing process and literature field. 5 publishing houses owned by the government („Vaga“, „Vyturys“, „Mintis“, „Mokslas“, „Šviesa“) were accompanied by many private enterprises, which instantly responded to the reader’s request of such publications, which in Soviet times were not available or had never been published because of ideological censorship. At the 9 decade of XX century autobiographical writing, autobiographical cultural practices became very popular. This happened mainly because of tendency for individual to witness history, be a part of historical events. The dissemination of egodocuments through traditional and digital publishing, participation in social networks becomes im­portant storage of cultural memory and object of scientific research. It is sometimes used to name a peculiar kind of egodoc­uments, the handwritten family or personal notebooks. The etymology, interpre­tation variations of this expression and it‘s suitability to become a scientific term are being discussed. The history of the term shows, that the meaning of it changed a lot in various epochs. The manuscript codexes of Manuscript Department of Vilnius University Library, which were described by some historians as silvae re­rum are reviewed in order to verify or falsify this proposed term. The results of the research show that the name should not be applied to all of those manuscripts, because, as case studies show, some of them do not fit to the existing descriptions of genre. Despite the fact, that under the title of ego-document are such a well-known sources as diaries, memoires, autobiographies and many more small genres of first person writings. Such sources already were used in historiography for long time, but mainly as a subsidiary material, which would help to collected more data and confirm variable facts. Subjectivity and fictional elements were feared and it was looked upon them with great distance. However using the ego-document method – fictional narrations and inserts, as well as writ­ers subjectivity became these aspects which where most valuable, because they were the keys to the writers personality and their world-view, also such aspects of mental heritage as political culture.&nbsp;<br>With the help of the memoirs of nobleman of Grand Duchy of Lithuania – Jan Cedrowski, we can try to look at the political culture in ego-documents of ear­ly-modern time Lithuanian nobleman. Regardless the fact, that these memoirs are very short, they are very vivid and reflects those of the average Lithuanian noble­men. It chronicles daily meet­ings, correspondence, estate administration issues, the author’s health condition, travel routes, cases heard by the Tribunal of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and other various facts of daily activities. It excludes the thoughts of reflective type; there is a clear emotional distance between the author and the events being de­scribed. The author’s rhythm of life was not only determined by economic affairs but also the work sessions of public authorities – the Tribunal, dietines, the Diet. After analysing the topics of the information recorded in the diary, an assump­tion of self-censorship influencing the choice of the information to be recorded is raised. Therefore, the aim of the article is to present the topics of the informa­tion recorded in the source, to discuss their informational and parenetic type thus highlighting certain aspects which could testify that the author would select the information to be recorded as well as reveal the impact of self-censorship on the diary. Before undertaking to keep a diary, the author set himself a clear goal and consciously separated both a landlord’s life from that of a politician and the life of a public person from the life of a private person. With a focus on future readers, A. K. Sapieha censored his diary but concentrated on those events which had to or could shape his positive image in the eyes of his successors. The diary was written almost all conscious noble‘s life and reveals specifics of Baroque culture as well as individual features. The first chapter presents the specifics of the diary which is very useful for itinerary research, but the content and volume of diary also lets us to research noble‘s character, his relationships with family, his health issues etc. Also this diary is useful for interdisciplinary research to reconstruct ways of treatments, alcohol effect on Radziwiłł’s personality etc. Diary was practical auxiliary tool for reconstruction of important facts in Radziwiłł’s life, also it had medical history function.&nbsp;<br>The second chapter presents the M. K.Radziwiłł personality features, relati­onship with family members. Auto ironicaland anxious nobleman fostered warm relations with his first wife, Frances Urszula Wysniowiecka Radziwiłłowa and his daughter Teofilia. Relations with the domineering mother Hanna Sanguszka Ra­dziwiłłowa was much tenser. Also emerging Baroque influence the personality worldview and approachto death in the diary.&nbsp;<br>Radziwiłł opens us as obstinate, self-willed, emotive, venturesome person, but very gentle to his first wife and daughter Teofila. He was very anxious and suspi­cious man in questions related to his health. The phenomenal communication is exceptional abilities to socialize and to communicate informa­tion. A person having a phenomenal communication, attracts attention surroun­ding, tend to be a leader, looking for and finding a solution that fits the situation. The article is performed personal narrative analysis, refer on the constructivist theory methodology. The Phenomenal communication genesis is analyses too. It was found that the nature of phenomenal communication is closely associated with strong genealogical family ties, with the early perceived social status and gi­ving an significance social relations, with the ability to make independent decisi­ons and with altruistic activities. It should be noted that the quality of communi­cation is such an important activity, as interest in his fellow countrymen and their destinies, constant self-education, social activities, education attainment, the dia­logue between different generations support. It was found that the genesis of phe­nomenal communication is closely linked with strong emotionally lived events. The phenomenal communication leads to personal satisfaction in the intellectual, emotional, moral and spiritual existence. Generally we can said that phenomenal communication is characterized by educated, intelligent, independent personality, which is characterized by “an open mind”, aims to constantly be in the midst of events, hold the contacts with people of different generations, have plans for the future. A deep memoir layer of rural district stories has provided different interpretations when assessing the history, background of the restoration of the municipal activities, the enemies and allies of the independence, and com­prehending the limits of own power and actions performed. The aspects of the lo­cal mentality reflected in the stories of the rural districts add to the understanding of different assessments of the restoration of the Lithuanian independence in the localities (rural districts).They are aimed at analysing the situation in the specific location in detail and still taking the experiences of people in the rural districts into consideration. Thoughts expressed in the stories of rural districts have often been based on the municipal relevance. The expression of the local patriotism remains the main feature in many descriptions in the stories of rural district mu­nicipalities in Panevėžys district. The stories were aimed at convincing the general public that the restoration of the Lithuanian independence was attained through the united forces and that the supporters and principal sponsors were the intellec­tuals in the rural district municipalities.</p> </div> Tomas Petreikis ##submission.copyrightStatement## http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0 2018-11-04 2018-11-04 5 147 168 10.15388/BibLita.2017.12131 Writer Žemaitė’s (Artistic) Life Reconstruction According to Archival Documents http://www.journals.vu.lt/Bibliotheca-Lituana/article/view/12132 <p>[full article and abstract in Lithuanian; summary in English]</p> <div> <p>The surviving private writings and egodocuments of Julija Žymantienė-Žemaitė (1845–1921), a classic of Lithuanian literature, are rather numerous. The writer wrote her autobiography, which does not cover her whole life; it describes the pe­riod up to the beginning of her creative path, around 1892, but this autobiograph­ical work provides plenty of facts from her life: the noble descent of her parents, the writer’s childhood, youth, first studies, marriage, troubles of marital life, her thirst for reading and education. Where the autobiography ends, Žemaitė’s auto­biographic stories can help us recreate her life, i.e. Pasiklausymai (Overhearings), Iš mano atsiminimų (From My Memories), Iš baudžiavos laikų (From the Times of Serfdom), Pirmieji mano žingsniai (My First Steps), Kalėjime (In Prison), etc. Her piece of writing Povilas Višinskis created in America in 1916 where Žemaitė recalls her first creative steps is especially important. A separate group of egodocuments – Žemaitė’s letters to Povilas Višinskis (1875–1906), a journalist, literary critic and the writer’s neighbour – can be distinguished. Over 70 letters survived to our days. The letters reveal the very beginning of her creative work, its twists and turns and the writer’s doubts when she sent nearly every short story or play she wrote to her young friend expecting his criticism or approval. Her later letters exhibit self-con­fidence, versatile personality development. Žemaitė’s letters to her dear friend and beloved person Konstantinas Petrauskas (1878–1947) make up yet another group of egodocuments. Whereas the letters to Višinskis focus on creative work, love prevails in this case. Žemaitė wrote over 60 letters to Petrauskas during the pe­riod 1911–1921.
