History. The scholarly journal Knygotyra has been published without interruption since 1961. Its initial title, from 1961 to 1969, was Bibliotekininkystės ir bibliografijos klausimai (Issues of Librarianship and Bibliography), which in 1970 was changed to Knygotyra. The journal was originally published in two parts: one focused on book history and publishing, and the other on librarianship, bibliography and information science. As of 1994, the second part has acquired independent status and is published as Informacijos mokslai (Information Sciences). From 1990 to 2001 Knygotyra was published in a single annual volume; since 2002, two volumes have been published each year.
