History: In 1997 Center of the Advanced Training and Specialization of Healthcare Specialists (now, Institute of Hygiene) initiated the publishing of the newspaper Šalpusnis (Eng. Coltsfoot). This newspaper had been published from January 1, 1997 to 2000. Taking into account development of nursing and nursing science, in 2001 the newspaper Šalpusnis was transformed into the journal Slauga. Mokslas ir praktika. It was a monthly journal. Since 2015 peer-reviewed scientific papers are published.
