This study examines rural educational institutions with the objective to identify student-level factors associated with student mathematics performance. By using data from the 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) by the OECD, rural schools were categorized into three groups based on their students’ mean mathematics achievement. Binary logistic regression was applied to the highest- and lowest-performing groups to analyze student-level factors associated with academic outcomes.
